FAR-REACHING MOVE
FURTHER COLLABORATION LIKELY [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright! (Rec. 9.40 a.m.) Washington, Apl. 21 President Roosevelt returned from Hyde Park this morning. It is now thought that the joint statement by him and Mr Mackenzie King (Canadian Prime Minister), which was made after a seven hours’ conference, is tantamount to a virtual merging of the economies of the United States and Canada for the production of war materials for Britain and hemisphere defence. The agreement is likely to be followed by arrangements for even further collaboration between the United States and Canada. The agreement will greatly ease Canada's problem of financing huge war expenditure. The “New' York Times” says obviously this is one of the most far-reaching moves made by the United States since the war began.
