GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKET
CANTERBURY PRICES fUnited Press Association) Christchurch, Feb. 21. Lack of confidence which has restricted trading in the grain and produce markets since the beginning of the season shows no signs of abating, and business in every section this week has been unduly quiet for the time of year. The only real activity has been in wheat, which has been delivered as fast as trucks have become available to move it from the country. Reports indicate that the yield has been patchy in this part of the province but excellent results have been obtained in mid and South Canterbury. After as light flutter earlier in the week the potato market has again become very quiet, though values have not receded from £4 for April, May and June, at which business was recorded. Ryegrass is still offering only in limited amounts and remains steady at up to 4s Id. More Akaroa cocksfoot has come in during the week and shows a wide variation in quality and a wider range in weights. The bulk of samples so far received range from I\ lb to 121 b, and values have been from 8d to Is. Oats are not being offered at all freely after the early rush. Values remain steady. There is a restricted inquiry for chaff, which is steady at £3 10s, on trucks.
