FUNDS FOR BRITISH AIRCRAFT
LUFTWAFFE SUBSCRIBES HANDSOMELY (British Official Wireless) Rugby, Feb. 20. Of the many hundreds of German aircraft which have crashed in Britain some 30 have been salved in a sufficiently good condition to be used for exhibition purposes. One hundred and fifteen such exhibitions have been organised by the Ministry of Aircraft Production and £22,500 raised from admission fees. Apart from this the stimulus supplied to local aircraft funds has benefited them by at least £50,000. In addition aluminium valued at approximately £40.000 has been salved from wrecked machines. The Luftwaffe, therefore, has subscribed quite handsomely to the means for its own defeat. SAMOAN SPITFIRE FUND Apia, Feb. 20. The Western Samoa Spitfire fund has reached £SOOO. After all the activities for augmenting the fund are closed on 7th March it is expected that the original sum aimed at will be well oversubscribed
