CHEAP SUN GLASSES
CONCERN SHOWN AT OPTICIANS’ CONFERENCE Considerable concern was expressed at the annual conference of the New Zealand Institute of Opticians, held in Christchurch last Saturday, at the present indiscriminate supply to the public of cheap grade sun-goggles, as it was stated that the ultimate effect of wearing such inferior and substitute quality resulted in the unhealthy performance of vision. The session of the conference this i year was confined to day, because! of the number of members serving with 1 the forces, and the difficulty of present | members sparing any longer period! from their practices. Attention was directed toward con- j sideration and examination of matters! of ocular hygiene in its relationship to-! ward the public interest and in which i it was the profession’s responsibility to! direct and promote the needs of the public in the attainment of visual ef- i ficiency and compensation of defective sight. At the close of the conference mem-' bers expressed their appreciation of the i executive’s work in establishing still j further the advance and essential na- i ture of the service of the profession in [ the community’s needs, in caring for the welfare of its sight.
