TIMBER FREIGHTS
APPLICATION FOR INCREASE Nelson transport operators who carry timber made application to the No. 3 Transport Licensing Authority yesterday for an increase of 6d per 100 superficial feet. Mr L. E. H. Baigent, for the timber millers, made a formal objection in order to support the Timber Millers* Association’s representations to the Price Investigation Tribunal. He said that the millers recognised the claim of the carriers, but it would be necessary for the millers to pass on any increase. The Authority (Mr T. H. Langford), in reserving his decision, said it was anna rent that some increase was necessary.
