GERMAN RADIO REQUEST AMERICANS COMPLY [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] (Rec. 12.10 p.m.) New York, Feb. 19. Taking advantage of the German shortwave radio announcement inviting criticisms and suggestions from the United States, thousands of Americans are sending insulting “collect” cable messages to Hitler. The Nazi announcer said that Germany would accept 25-word messages on a collect basis from American listeners. One message requested a broadcast of Hitler’s funeral; another asked for an eye-witness account of the R.A.F. bombing of Berchtesgaden and Hitler’s Chancellery. Some messages were unprintable.
