JAPANESE PLAN
COUP D’ETAT IN THAILAND BASES IN INDO-CHINA MUNITIONS FOR THAI ARMY HONG KONG, 29th Dec. Authoritative sources in Hanoi allege that a Japanese plan has been disclosed for a coup d’etat in Thailand coincidental with increased Japanese pressure for bases in southern Indo-China. It is said that four Japanese en route to Bangkok on a goodwill mission had been instructed to organise the coup d’etat through the Thai army, which received. 33 pursuit planes and 25 bombers from Japan early in December. The steamer Bangkok Maru is reporter to be en route to Bangkok with 950 tons of munitions and guns. Another ship is said to be sailing from Japan shortly carrying tanks. Japanese “tourists” in southern IndoChina are increasing rapidly and are seeking to penetrate the French military zones in Cambodia and Laos.
