“STORY OF CHRISTMAS”

CANTATA BY SUNDAY SCHOOLS CATHEDRAL PRIZEGIVING The cantata “Story of Christmas” by Mrs Carey was delightfuly rendered by the Cathedral and Wood Church of England Sunday Schools at the Cathedral School before large num- | her of parents. Bible Class and school; unison song, “Out in the Fields,” Bible Class; "The Shepherds’ Carol.” solo by June Watson, refrain by school: recitation. “Whai means this Glory,” Jean Lockyer; solo and chorus, “The First Christmas Morn,” solo, Je-.n McLaren, j chorus, school; hymn, “Sweetly Sang the Angels,” solo, Jean McLaren, choir, Bible Class, chorus, all; unison song, "A Little Carol.” by school; recitation, “The Hebrew Children,” B. Hislop, Rosemary Harris, S. and J. Fitzpatrick, J. Goodall; solo and chorus, “Gifts for the King,” solo, Hazel Campden, chorus ti school; closing hymn, “Happy Christmas,” all. The Rev. Mr Titchener then gave a report on the year’s work of the Suni day School which was satisfactory. He urged parents to take more interest in the Bible lessons given the children to learn. The Dean also spoko, and an inspiring address was given by Mrs P. W. Stephenson who, after being presented with a beautiful bouquet of sweet peas by Patricia Grfnt, gave oi.t the school prizes. The Dean then thanked all who assisted in preparing the Cantata, especially Miss Glendin.iing and the teachers who had assisted her and Miss Barbara Jamieson for so ably accompanying at the piano. The National Anthem concluded a happy evening.
