NEW ZEALAND GREEKS’ i CONTRIBUTION [United Press Association] WELLINGTON, This Day. The Consul-General for Greece, Mr T E H. Seddon. in an interview, said ♦h' sf r>e had just had the honour of cabling to General Metaxas £2418, which the Greeks in New Zealand had ra sed. None but Greeks had contributed and the gifts were from all parts of ihe Dominion. IV r Seddon explained that two committees had canvassed the North Islard and Mr Seddon himself personally saw most of the Greeks in the South Li November The cable despatching the money carries the message: “Your victories have inspired every freedom-loving people.’ - Mr Seddon stated also that the Prime Minister, the Rt Hon. P. Fraser, he at J Mr Garland. Greek Vice-Consul, had been conferring and would probably make a statement offering some very material assistance to our ally Greece on behalf of the people of New Zealand. Mr Seddon recalled that the Greeks m New Zealand in June gave a day’s taking to the Patriotic Fund, a gift of £I6OO He expressed his gratitude and the appreciation of the Greek community in New Zealand for the gift of £2OOO cabled to the Red Cross at Athens last week from the Patriotic Fund in New Zealand
