FEVERISH JAPANESE PREPARATION EXPANSION MOVE ? I (Received 9th December, 9.50 a.m.) CHUNGKING, 10th December, j Feverish Japanese military prepar- | ations are going on in Formosa and at Amoy following the appointment of a new Governor-General of Formosa. General N. Kajima Yasutune, who is regarded as an influential member of the Japanese younger officers’ clique and also a staunch advocate of the southward expansion programme. It is reported that among the new measures adopted is the organisation of a “South Asia Surveying Corps,” comprising 400 Japanese Ronin. or troublemakers, In different parts of the Straits Settlements and South Seas. They are stated*to be divided into 10 groups for the purpose of collecting information.
