PRISONER MISSING
FROM HAUPU FARM, TURANGI [United Press Association] TAUPO, 9th December. Police officers and wardens from the Haupu and Rangipo prison farms are searching for .a prisoner who was missed from the Haupu Farm, Turangi, at 5 o’clock this afternoon. The prisoner, John Richard Cantell, had been working with a fellow-pris-oner mowing hay in a paddock. A warder said that when he last saw the prisoner earlier in the day he seemed to be working steadily and asked about ( a piece of rope he needed for his work.' Cantell, who is serving a nine months’ sentence, is sft 4sin tall, and when last seen was wearing white moleskin trousers and a grey coat but no hat.
She was trying to get the last word, following one of their domestic quarrels. “Yes, and there was a time when you always called me ‘Daisy’; now it’s just plain Mrs Brown,’ as if I were the merest stranger to you.” Hubby shrugged his shoulders. “I’ve since found out my mistake,” he replied. “Daisies shut up at night; you never do ’
“I’m thinking of getting a wireless set, said Jones. “I’d like one like yours " “Yes, they’re quite good,” replied Smith. “How many controls has it?” asked Jones. Smith grimaced. “Two.” he replied bitterly; “my wife and my daughter.”
