TRIBUTE TO AMERICAN RED CROSS [U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] NEW YORK, 7th December. The Duke of Windsor, in a radio address, expressed gratitude to the “open-hearted” people of the United States Red Cross for all they are doing for the British people. The Duke spoke extemporaneously from Nassau on Ripley’s “Believe It or Not” programme over the Columbia system. He also paid a tribute to the Merchant Marine, particularly to two British sailors who spent 71 days at sea in an open boat after being torpedoed. The sailors broadcast their experiences. The Duke and Duchess were guests at the studio and the Duke was so deeply moved by the men’s experiences that he consented to go on the
