APPROPRIATION AS CAMPING AREA PRIOR CONSENT OF DEPARTMENT OBTAINED BOARD’S 81-MONTHLY MEETING At the bi-monthly meeting of the Pohara Domain Board a letter was received from the Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr P. R. Wilkinson) advising with reference to the appropriation of the Pohara Domain as a camping ground, that the Minister of Lands had now agreed to the board taking action to open the domain for camping purposes and had approved the scale of charges for such use as recommended by the board, namely 2s for the first day and Is for each succeeding day, or 7s 6d per week. The board, it was pointed out, could complete the matter by passing the necessary resolution as set out on the enclosed tracing. The resolution would take effect immediately it was passed. The meeting, held in the Golden Bay Power Board’s room, was attended by Messrs P. V. Langford (chairman), J. W. Page, E. A. Polglase, C. P. Reilly, P. R. Reilly and J. P. Cottier (secretary). The following resolution, moved by Mr C. P. Reilly and seconded by Mr Polglase was carried: “That the Pohara Domain Board, having obtained the prior consent of the Minister of Lands, hereby resolves, pursuant to Section 52 (1) e of the Public Reserves, Domains and National Parks Act, 1928, to appro- 1 priate as camping sites the Pohara Domain .as shown bordered red on the plan and on the Lands and Survey plan deposited in the Head Office of the Lands and Survey Department, Wellington.” FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS Mr Page reported that, in company with Mr G, E. Boyes (County Clerk), he had inspected the domain and arranged for certain improvements to be carried out. Mr C. P. Reilly reported that a tool locker had been provided at the Domain and the secretary was authorised to procure the necessary cleaning utensils for the caretaker and provi'- I ** him with a receipt book and a copy of the board’s camping fees. The Auditor-General returned the board’s balance sheet to 31st March, 1940, audited and certified to as correct. The balance sheet was adopted on the motion of the chairman and Mr C P Reilly.
