HOSPITAL V. COLLEGE D The Hospital team played College D at Hospital on Saturday last. The wicket was heavy after rain in the early morning. The College boys did not make many runs against a fairly strong Hospital team, but “stage fright” was their worst opponent. College batted first and made 28 runs, no one made double figures. Hospital in their first innings made 71 runs for six wickets declared, Crawshaw 14. Muntz 14 and McMurray not out 11, Morrison 11 were the chief scorers. Bowling for College. Cull took two wickets for 31 runs; Tait, three for 22; and Spencer, one for 12. Cornes took two v'H-y nice catches and a left-hand-ed low catch is worthy of mention. In their second strike the College boys could only muster 18 runs, thus Hospital had an outright win. Bowling for Hospital (both innings combined) Vercoe took nine wickets for 12 runs; Winnie, six for 6; Crawshaw. one for 5; Thomas, four for 10. SIX POINT WIN FOR ODDFELLOWS Newport and Wood opened for Oddfellows against Tahuna, in the junior grade. K. Newport knocked 14 fours and one six in his chanceless knock of 92 when he was out l.b.w. to Taylor. Other double figure scores; R. Goodman 24, G. Coleman 14. G. Philip 13, H. Andrews 25. Bowling for Tahuna: Taylor, took two wickets for 56 runs: Roberts, three fo- 61; Mead, one for 23. Tahuna’s opening pair were McDonald and Roberts. Mead was the only batsman to make double figures (12). the side of nine men being all out for 37. Bowling for Oddfellows: li. Goodman took three wickets for 19 runs; J. Hay, three for 10; G. Coleman, two for 6. Tahuna followed on. The climax came when the last over was called, Coleman bowling Roberts out l.b.w. first ball. Taylor, Tahuna’s last man, playing defensively cocked a chance to Scott who accepted it at silly leg thus giving six points to his side with Tahuna’s second innings score 66.
