SCRAP IRON EMBARGO
INDUSTRY MUST BE REORGANISED HEADS OF JAPANESE FIRM RESIGN TOKIO, 7th December. All the directors of Japan Ironworks, the largest firm in the country, have resigned as a result of the Australian and United States embargo on the export of scrap iron to Japan. The chairman, Mr Hachisaburo Hirao, said that in view of the embargos the iron industry must be reorganised “in order to cope with the new situation.” “A self-sufficiency iron policy must be formulated for Japan, Manchukuo and China,” he said.
