SEVERE FIGHTING
JAPANESE ATTACK CHINESE [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright] CHUNGKING, sth December. Severe fighting is proceeding in the central Yangtse valley in the vicinity of Pengtseh, below Kiukiang. Japanese forces launched attacks on Chinese positions on the south bank of the Yangtse, where the Chinese have been threatening Japanese shipping plying between Shanghai and Hankow.
