SHEARING
(Original) To-day Daddy had a man from Fox- | hill to shear our sheep. Last night Daddy i put them in a shed to keep dry, because! if they were in the paddock and it rained, the sheep would be too wet for him to shear, and Daddy would have to wait till they were properly dry. I will describe how a man shears a sheep. First he sharpens his shears, and after that he puts them in a little water j He then catches the sheep and sits it | down between his legs. He starts on its ' tummy, and then on its legs, and head, and last of all its right side. Dad then 1 brands the sheep and lets it go. After all the sheep are shorn, the wool is then put away into bales and sent i away. Winnie Nisbett, 88 Valley. |
