Cork, agricultural instructor to the Nelson Education Board, who was also present at the meeting. Mr Cork said that as one of those who had assisted in inaugurating the club, he was very pleased to note the good progress benig made upon which the club was to be heartily congratulated. It was particularly gratifying he said, to see schools in the Collingwood district again participating in the club's activities. The fact that interest in the work was being maintained throughout Hie area and the organisation working smoothly and efficiently assured that the fundamental objective of the movement - the encouragement of an agricultural bias among school children—would be achieved. DONATIONS TO FUNDS Donations to the club’s funds were forwarded by Mr Hubert Page, the Golden Bay Co-operative Dairy Company, Central Takaka, Hamama, Pina inahoi, Pakawau and Onckaka schools and the Takaka District High School. Votes of thanks were accorded these donors, dhe- chairman mentioning that Mr Page’s line gesture in contributing Vd). in addition to a 10s prize for the yearling, class for club membbrs at the rakaka A. and P. Show, was deserving of special thanks. Two schools intimated that they did not. intend to make donations to the club’s funds. The chairman said he found it difficult to understand a school declining to assist tire club financially. Voluntary contributions were the clubs only source of revenue and the money was expended solely in assisting the various schools participating in agricultural club activities. Apart from the

benefits the children derived from the | competitions, each school was provided j with a cup for the best calf reared and : cash prizes for the growing of root crops by its pupils.
