SIR EARLE PAGE’S APPOINTMENT ACCUMULATION OF CARGO ' £U.P.A .—B.v Electric I’eleerapn-Uopyrtght J (Received 6th December, 9.20 a.m.) CANBERRA, sth December. Sir Earle Page, Minister of Commerce, announced that the Government had placed him fn control of Australian coastal shipping. He said that certain recent events such as the sinking of ships in Bass Strait had caused a great accumulation of cargo with the i result that he would confer with the 1 Shipowners’ Federation and decide on ' measures to deal with the situation. Vessels under 100 tons would not be affected.
