MR CHURCHILL'S REFUSAL
TO CONSIDER CHRISTMAS TRUCE ROME NEWSPAPER'S ATTACK [U.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph-Copvrichr t (Received 6th December, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, sth December. Reuter's Rome correspondent quotes “II Messaggero” as saying that Mr Churchill’s refus-' 1 to consider a Christmas tiuce will surprise nobody. He would never agree to such a proposal from the Pope becausj he is a pure representative of that Protestant faith v/hich more than any other, under Hebraic influence, is marked by fierce opposition to the Catholic Church. Hatred against Rome is stronger in England than human consideration of religious sentiment.
