MONEY FOR SOLDIERS
ADDITIONAL CHRISTMAS PERMIT SUGGESTED [From Our Own Parliamentary Reporter] j WELLINGTON, This Day. An urgent question asked in the House of Representatives yesterday by Mr W. P. Endean (National. Remuera) concerned the forwarding of money to ' New Zealand soldiers overseas. He ask- ■ ed the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash) whether he would grant per- ; mission for friends, relatives, and other ■ persons in New Zealand to send to each ; member of our expeditionary force abroad £5 for Christmas. "The sum of ; £2O is in each case permitted to be sent , overseas in the course of a year,” he , added. . The Minister expressed regret that nothing could done in the meantime, but he promised to give further consideration to the question, and if essential sums were available he would recommend that some alteration be made at a later date.
