MOULDING THE NATION MINISTER’S ADVICE [United Press Association] WELLINGTON. sth December The high calling of the true teacher ' in a changing world was briefly sur--1 veyed by the Minister of Education, Mr Mason, at the closing ceremony of ; the Wellington Teachers’ Training Coli lege to-day. “We have progressed in mechanical knowledge and we have advanced scientific theories, but none of these brought us the Golden Age, nor do they appear to do doing so. The selfsatisfaction has passed, and there is more uncertainty in the world than He regarded the teacher as the most important person in the world, not because of any inherent superiority, but because of the vital part he played in moulding the future of the nation. “I hope you realise that the future of our race depends upon your work.” Mr Mason added. “Upon your efforts depends not only what you personally attain in life, but the advancement of the whole of our nation.”
