SIR CYRIL NEWALL’S TRIBUTE REGRET AT HANDING OVER POST T U.P.A.-By Electric Telesraph-CopyHgbt| (Received sth December, 12.10 p.m.) LONDON. 4th December. Sir Cyril Newall. in a speech, said that there was no doubt that the lads of the R.A.F. were magnificent; there was no other word for it. He was sure they would do everything England expects of them. He added: “I handed over my post as Chief of Air Staff to Acting-Air Chief Marshal Portal with considerable regret, but there is no other to whom I would have handed it over with greater confidence.”
