CRISIS AT CANBERRA
GOVERNMENT’S FATE IN BALANCE fU.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph-Copyright | CANBERRA, 3rd December. The debate on the Federal Budget and the Labour amendment for the postponement of the first item was resumed in the House of Representatives to-day. It is expected to end tomorrow night in a near political crisis, with the fate of the Government depending on the vote of the Independent member for Wimmera (Victoria), Mr Wilson, who at some stage of the discussion to-morrow will reveal his attitude on the Government’s financial proposals. Mr Wilson is reported to be desirous cf driving a hard bargain on behalf of the wheat-growers, who have already been promised a financial subsidy arising from drought and loss of markets. Mr Wilson, however, wants still more help, which the Prime Minister is not prepared to provide.
