SOUTH AFRICA’S DECISION GENERAL SMUTS REVIEWS WORLD SITUATION “TIDE HAS TURNED” [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright | Received sth December, 1 n .40 a.m.) BLOEMFONTEIN, 4th December The South African Prime Minister, General Smuts, in a speech on the international situation, said: “We have had serious setbacks, but the tide has turned and there are many indications that victory will again be ours. It is a harder task this time, but we will go on. We want to take our part in holdinj up a free world and standing with those who have stood by us for generations. I have no doubt that when it is all over it will be generally admitted that South Africa, in a vital moment in her history, chose rightly, however difficult the choice may have been.”
