WOMEN’S DIVISION

RICHMOND BRANCH | The November meeting of the Rich- | mond W.D.F.U. was held in the Rest j Room of the Town Hall. There was only a fair attendance owing to seasonlal work. After the singing of the I National Anthem, and the reciting of the Creed Mrs Hockey spoke for a few minutes on the seventh clause — j urging everybody to put into action their better impulse. Members were asked to stand in silence for a minute out of respect for a member who had lost her father. i Miss Kidd read a particularly ini teresting letter from a nurse who had served in the 1914-18 campaign and was again doing service in London. , One almost saw London after a raid, the King and Queen walking amidst the ruins, sympathising with the people in their loss, but again one felt the courage and spirit of our great nation. The branch is most fortunate in being near town in that it is able to call on friends for demonstrations. Once again Mrs Plumridge kindly came out and showed how to make most attractive gifts. The hostesses for the afternoon tea were Mesdames Windleborn. G. Watson, L. Wells, G. Wilkes and H. Wilkes. The winners of the competitions were: Best rose, Mrs Cromie 1. Mrs Deer 2, Mrs Hockey 3. Collection of sweet .peas. Mrs McNabb 1, Mrs Wilkes 2. Victorian posy, Mrs Deere 1. Sponge roll, Mrs Best 1, Mrs Cromie 2. Marmalade. Mrs Tanner 1. Mrs Best 2, Mrs H. Wilkes 3.
