BRITISH BOMBING RAIDS SHIPPING ALSO ATTACKED BOMBS ON NAPLES AND SICILY [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyrightj (Received 4th December, 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, 3rd December. ' Tiie Royal Air Force last night scored more successes against German shipping and naval bases. Italy was also attacked. The U-boat base at Lorient on the French Atlantic coast was raided for the second night in succession by planes of the Bomber Command. At the same time bomber planes of the Coastal Command attacked German shipping off the Norwegian coast and several hits were recorded. To-day’s Italian communique admits raids on Naples and Augusta, Sicily, adding that several fires were started, j All the R.A.F planes returned. The Air Ministry news service states that last night a small force of British heavy bombers in spite of very unfavourable weather visited Marinewerft at Wilhelmshaven, one of Germany’s most important shipbuilding yards. Marinewerft is beside a large basin from which ar canal leads to the sea. Warships of all kinds are built there, and there are six dry docks in which submarines are being constructed. At the end of the raid a large fire had spread well within the limit of the' shipbuilding yards, where a shower of incendiary bombs had fallen.
