TOTAL PAGANISM
- ATTACKED BY VATICAN IN FRENCH BROADCAST [U.P.A.-By Electric Telegraph-Copyright) LONDON. 2nd December. In a broadcast to France to-day, the Vatican radio made a strong attack against total paganism which aims at establishing the omnipotence of the State. Though 2000 years had gone by since the persecution of the Christians under the Roman Empire and the barbarians who followed it, the broadcast said, nevertheless Christianity had proved the stronger in the struggle. It had survived the persecution, and Christianity to-day upheld the great conception of the equality of men. Every human being was endowed with supernatural dignity, which was the same for everybody. Persecution revealed the equal rights of all mankind. Though it attempted to repeat itself in history in different forms, eventually defeat was acknowledged from the very mouths of the persecutors, for the values preserved by Christianity could not be destroyed. The Vatican radio is devoting much time to the strengthening of French Catholicism against its Nazi persecutors.
