DATE OF LEAVING CAMP
l REARRANGEMENT ASKED FOR f MR ATMORE'S QUESTION a [United Press Association] ' WELLINGTON, This Day. a Mr H. Atmore, M.P., in the House of Representatives, yesterday asked the Minister of Defence an urgent question: "Whether it is not possible to allow Territorials to camp on ; 21st December instead of 28th Decem--5 ber. Parents and other relatives, also - Chambers of Commerce and tradesI people generally were asking for a L re-arrangement.” The Minister in reply said it was not ■ possible for the Territorials now in , camp to complete their training by 21st ■ December. INVERCARGILL MEETING i INVERCARGILL, 3rd December. Concern at the announcement made i by the Minister of Defence that men now in territorial camp would disperse on 28th December instead of 21st December, which was generally understood to have been the date originally arranged, was expressed at a meeting , of Invercargill business men to-day. It was pointed out that many firms with employees in camp fully expected the men back in time to assist with the Christmas rush and, but for that understanding, appeals might have been lodged in some cases to have the period of training postponed. I The two busiest days, it was stated, were 23rd and 24th December. If the , men left camp on 21st December they would be available on those days. It was decided to telegraph the Minister that business houses were very concerned over the extension. Unless there was a special reason, it was suggested that the original date be reverted to.
