TAKAKA BOY SCOUTS

MEETING OF COMMITTEE 1 FOUR-DAY CAMP TO BE ORGAN- 1 ISED FOR CUBS • The monthly meeting of the Takaka Boy Scout Committee was held last ] night, when there were present Messrs ■ A. O. Emms (chairman), G. Maunder, j P. R. Wood, A. R. Cozens (scout- I master), White (cub master) and A. W. J Watts (secretary). Apologies for ab- ] sence were received from Mrs Cozens r and Mrs J. A. Lockhait. ( In a brie; verbal report, the scout- 2 master said that the work of the troop i had proceeded satisfactorily during the p month. In order to assist those mem- ; bers who were anxious to secure their \ ambulance badges, Dr A. E. Aylward < had offered to take weekly classes in ] first aid. These were being organised r and he thought the arrangement should i prove very satisfactory. r The cub master reported that the ( Wolf Cub Pack was doing quite well, , efforts being concentrated more especially on woodwork during the past < month. One member had gained a ? proficiency badge and others were ' working keenly in order to secure : their second class badges. CAMP AT PATTEN’S ROCK It was decided to proceed with arrangements for a four-day camp for cubs to be held on the beach near Patten’s Rock during the Christmas holidays. The dates fixed for the camp were from 18th to 21st December in- < elusive. The first step to be taken will 1 be to ascertain the number of boys 1 likely to be attending the camp, after 1 which details as to the cost per mem- ( ber and other arrangements will be ; gone into. The secretary was authorised to 1 order six cyclist and six pathfinder j badges for the Boy Scout Troop. J A suggestion to hold committee \ meetings once every two months did \ not find favour, it being considered , that with such a lapse of time between meetings, members would be inclined [ to lose interest. The present arrange- ( ment. whereby the committee meets f on the first Monday in each month, is i to stand. j
