HIRA BRANCH A very pleasant card evening was held in the Hira school on Saturday evening to raise money for the Suburban North Patriotic Fund, the effort realising £5 2s. The winners of the card competitions were:—Ladies, Mrs J. Brown; men, Mr Batt. A donation of £2 was receivec from Mr E. G. Westley for meat sold. A beautifully designed hand-worked cushion made by Mrs J. Vercoe was won by Mrs Raynor. Richmond. This was the last patriotic effort of the year in the Hira area.
