This Day. j Pensions and allowances are to be I paid to members of the Emergency m Reserve Corps and their dependants j ( in the event of death or disablement j j arising out of their duties as members i * of that organisation. This provision is •< contained in a section of the Finance } Bill No. 4 which was introduced in the • House of Representatives last night and * j read a first time. In the event of the death of a male ( member of the corps, the rates for the r widow and children are to be the same < as those provided for in the War Pen- j« sions Extension Act, 1940. in respect of j ‘ the death of a private in the Army. In j. the case of other dependants the pen- \ sion may not exceed the value of the ! j benefits received by the claimant from the member during the twelve months 1 e preceding the date of his death. This ! j latter provision also applies in the; i case of the death of a female member, j j in which case also the pension for a i child is not to exceed 10s a week. ( The following are the maximum i rates in the event of total disablement:; ( Unmarried member under 21, £1 a|. week; any other member £2 a week:! the wife of a member £2 a week, and10s a week for each child: in the case of any other dependent, the value of the benefits received by the claimant during the preceding twelve months. In the case of partial disablement, the rates are to be determined by the War Pensions Board.
