PENSIONS FOR SOUTH AFRICAN WAR VETERANS [From Our Own Parliamentary Reporter] j WELLINGTON. This Day. : Included in the miscellaneous section of the Finance Bill No. 4. which was introduced in the House of Representatives last night and read a first time, is a clause providing for the granting! of pensions to South African War! i veterans, whose death or disablement i |is shown to have arisen out of the service with the armed forces in the South African War. Rates of pensions are those prescribed in the War Pensions Extension Act, 1940. Another clause makes children of veterans in receipt of payments under the War Veterans’ Allowance Act, j 1935, eligible for war bursaries and allowances under the War Legislation Act, 1917. A special provision dealing with 1 rural housing stipulates that advances made in respect of lands leased by the Crown are to be a charge on the lessee’s interest in the land and to have 1 priority over any charge or loading caused by improvements. Another provision in the Bill exempts income derived from the Canteen Board from income tax. social security charge, and national security
