MOTUEKA CRICKET

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS SATURDAY’S MATCHES Club championship matches in the Motueka Cricket Association were resumed on Saturday afternoon. MOTUEKA V. RIWAKA At the Motueka Cricket Ground the seniors commenced their match with Riwaka, the latter opening with an innings of 107. The main contributor was > R. Fowler 30. H. Smith obtained the j best, bowling average with five wickets ! for 24. Motueka made a poor response and j were dismissed for 48, the wickets j being divided between C. Askew and J. j Holyoake. BROOKLYN V. MOUTERE , Brooklyn opened their match with * Upper Moutere on the latter’s ground and scored 152 runs. J. Fowler 31, H. ) Burrows 30 and D. INNINGS WIN FOR POKORORO At Whakarewa on Saturday Pokororo ! defeated the home team by an innings • and 18 runs. j Pokororo had first strike, and scored I 123, the principal contributors being D. ' Thomas 50, N. Cole 26 and A. Heath 1 18. The bowlers were: M. Inwood four j for 12. M. Bisley one for 10, and Eginton j one for 10. Whakarewa collapsed under the i bowling of Cole and Tomlinson, and I were dismissed for 29. M. Bisley with | 8 was the best scorer. N. Cole took six 1 wickets for 16, and I. Tomlinson four | for 11.
