SEMI-FINALS OF TROPHY PAIRS COMPETITION With ideal weather conditions prevailing on Satui’day afternoon, there was a large attendance of bowlei*s at the Takaka Club’s gieen, which played fast and was in excellent order. Only two club competition matches were played, these being the semi-finals of the trophy pairs. F. Page and J. W. Murray (s), one life, defeated Father Brooks and Colin Scott (s), one life. F. Page replaced H. Coppell as Murray’s lead. C. Strickland and R. W. Kirk (s), one life, lost to W. Birdsall and A. H. Newlove (s), two lives. The finalists, who will play off next Saturday, ] are thus Birdsall and Newlove (two; lives) and F. Page and Murray (one life). The former pair have not lost a game throughout the competition and in order to win the trophy their oppon ents will have to defeat them in two successive games.
