“NEW EUROPEAN ORDER”
PLOT TO MURDER CIVILISATION PREVAILING LAWLESSNESS IN RUMANIA REIGN OF TERROR | British Official WirelessJ Received 30th Nov., 1 1.30 a.m. ! RUGBY, 29th November. The assassination of Professor Jorga caused a great shock to j opinion in Britain where the news of the massacre by the Iron Guard | now under the name of Rumanian Legionaries of at least 64 untried 'persons held in custody has been | received with feelings of horror. I The complete lawlessness i which prevails emphasises how j. powerless is the Rumanian Govj ernment to face the Nazified I organisation. The murders are regarded in London as symptomatic of Hitler’s new order for Europe, in that they are directed against the patriotic element and are the fruit of internal dissension deliberately fostered by the Nazis with a view to weakening the last remaining sparks of national resistance. The feelings of Britain ere apparently fully shared in the United States. “The New York Times” observes: “We are witnessing in Europe a plot to murder civilisation. As it flares up in savagery in one place after another in political murder in Bucharest, student riots in Zagreb and a fresh round-up in Prague, the new order reveals itself for what it is a reign of disorder leading to anarchy.” TRAINS COLLIDE (Received 30th November, 11.10 a.m.) BERLIN, 29th November, j The News Agency stated that two j were killed and ten injured when two | trains collided near Bucharest. The line ! between Ploesti and Bucharest is closed as a result.
