MAPUA CLUB
PROGRESS OF COMPETITIONS Due to the absence of many members of the Mapua Bowling Club on holiday, activities have been somewhat curtailed over the past fortnight. With a run of good weather henceforth it is hoped to complete club competitions at an early date. White is to play Wakefield in the final of the senior singles, while in the play-off in the full rinks competition Dormer, Ross. Coutts and White (s) are to play M. Wells, Pavnter, Neave and Sladen (s). In the Feathers Challenge series, Wakefield and Ross staved off a hot challenge from Jackson and M. Wells, the score being 21-20. On Saturday, however, Sladen and M. Wells wrested the trophies from the holders, Wakefield and Ross, by 21-19. In the Centennary Consolation Pairs Competition, in which, where possible, junior members are to act as skips, Grainger and Neave defeated Foley (s) and Coutts 22-17. A key match in this competition is that between M. Wells and McKee and S. Wells and Wakefield which should be played as early as possible. WAKEFIELD FEATHERS A challenge has been issued to the Wakefield Club for the Wakefield Feathers, and is to be played at Wakefield on Tuesday afternoon, the following being the Mapua Club’s team: C. Higgs, Wakefield, White, Clark (s). WAKEFIELD TOURNEY On Ist February (Thursday) three rinks will take part in the Anniversary Day tourney at Wakefield, these being: M. Wells, Coutts. Sladen, White (s). Ross, C. Higgs, Wakefield, Neave (s). Foley, Stuchbery, Jackson, Clark (s). DISTRICT CUP MATCH The following will represent the Mapua Club in the match with the Wakefield Club at Mapua on Saturday, 3rd February:— D. Ross. C. Higgs, Coutts, White (s). j M. Wells, J. W. Hall, Neave, Sladen I (s). Folev, Stuchbery, Jackson, Clark (s). I Unofficial rink: Grainger, J. Higgs, ( Couch, McKee (s). Reserves: H. Dormer, S. Wells.
