RADIO INTERFERENCE IN MOTUEKA

'To I tic i.Uiicrl Hr,—May I crave space to applaud the letter in Saturday evenings paper under the nom-de-piumc of ‘'Clearance.'’ As a resident of Motucka I heartily applaud Ins campaign against the excessive amount ol radio interference that at present reigns supreme on the local ether. .Motueka, having no water supply, de pends almost entirely on pumps for its aqueous needs, and the great majority of these are electrical. Exceedingly few ars fitted with suppressors, with the result that radio sets in the vicinity arc the unwilling victims of the violent disturbances emanating from these sources. Then, again, there are many handy men about with various electrical contrivances, such as lathes, which all contribute to unsatisfactory reception in their vicinity. As “Clearance” says, it would be more than a day’s work tracing the offenders, as the culprits would hardly oblige the radio inspector staging a co-operative effort for his benefit, and consequently each one would have to be tracked when he Ir'gan operations. It would be a long jol, but if we are to enjoy our radio as \V3 used to, then it must, be done. On the basis of complete ignorance one hesitates to suggest that the Power Board might be an unwitting offender, but it is not without the realms of possibility that such might' be the case. There are such things' as leaking insulators, etc. 1 sincerely hope that the public spirited citizens of Motueka will follow ‘'Clearance's” lead and demand a suppression of this aerial piracy.—l am etc., FED UP. Motueka, 3rd July.
