The commander of the Japanese garrison announces that the blockade will he Intensified on Ist July. The Concession is quiet. Searches are less rigorous. SUPPLIES OF FOODSTUFFS (Received 30th June, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, 29th June. The Shanghai correspondent of “The Times” says that large supplies of fresh foodstuffs entered Tientsin. There are only short delays at the barriers. The situation at Swatow is unchanged. British ships continue to call, do not enter the harbour, and tranship passengers. H.M.S. Scout is outside. The Navy authorities report that Bri- ! tons have not evacuated Foochow. j OPERATIONS AT FOOCHOW [lndependent Cable Service] | (Received 30th June. 10.20 a.m.) FOOCHOW, 29th June. The Japanese announced that they had decided to boom the river to-day. The British authorities replied that they intended to leave a destroyer in the harbour, and the Japanese answered that the vessel would be bottled up.
