MR CHAMBERLAIN S COMMENTS ON AXIS PRESS REPORTS [British Official Wireless I RUGBY, 28th June. When Mr Chamberlain ’a attention was called in the House of Commons at question time (o the reception given in the German and Italian Press to the recent speeches by himself and Lord Halifax explaining British foreign policy lie said : “t noticed, particularly in the German Press, articles distorting and sneering at any speeches made by British statesmen which seek to show an liixlcrstanging of Germany’s position. 1 cannot but deplore such attempts to poison the relations between oUr two countries, but I do not propose lo make representations to the German Government on the subject.”
