EMERGENCY MEASURE
FUNDS FOR AMERICAN RELIEF SENATE APPROVES HUGE EXPENDITURE fUI’A H. hi-.-I Me 1 clear anti « «-(.«• i^l.t WASHINGTON, 29th June. Rarely 24 hours before the closing of the fiscal year, when the Treasury found itself without funds to continue the relief programme in the succeeding year, th Senate in an all-night session approved an 1 ,818.000,000 dollars measure the principal parts of which have already been passed by the House. However, because tbe Senate increased the appropriation by 73,C00,C00 and introduced a large number of controversial features into the Bill it ik feared a protracted delay may attend the inter-House conference necessary to straighten out the many existing differences of opinion concerning what relief projects should be discontinued and what sums should be spent on those to be continued. The appropriation, which is 800,000.000 less than the previous year's, allows 1,477,000,000 for the Works Progress Administration and 123.000.000 for the National Youth Administration.
