ADDINGTON MARKET

RANGE OF PRICES I Unitprl I'rew* Ai'Miclalu.ii CHRISTCHURCH, 28th June. Welcome improvements in prices were seen in most sections of the weekly stock market held in Addington to-day. Store sheep values revived slightly under the influence of better feed conditions brought about by the rain and by the better attendance of farmers. Young wethers met a brisk demand, 15s 3d being paid for a truck lot of two-tooths. Other pens of the same age sold at 11s. Two trucks of three-quar-terbred two, four and six-tooth ewes made 15s 6d and 15s 9d; and a pen of ewe lambs made 12s 7d. There was a small penning of 300 in the fat lamb section, which generally was poor. A few pens of butchers’ lambs sold firmly to 72d a lb. In the absence of export buyers, light lambs sold in many cases at a little better than store prices. About 5500 fat sheep were forward compared with the 6000 of last week. Another good sale resulted. Good wethers, which were yarded in small numbers, showed an improvement of about Is a head. Light wethers also were firmer. Good ewes sold under good competition, but light ewes were down by Is. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 31s Id, prime heavy 25s to 27s Gd, prime medium 22s 6d to 24s 6d, light to 17s; extra prime heavy ewes to 26s lOd, prime heavy 21s 6d to 245, prime medium 16s to 19s 6d, light to 11s 6d. The entry of 365 fat cattle was the smallest of the season, and as a result the best sale for a considerable time was the outcome. On the average a few good cattle were better by 30s a head on the rates of last week. The l improved rates applied io all classes,| cows being dearer by 15s to 255. Extra prime heavy steers made to £l7 17s 6d, prime heavy £l4 15s to £l6, prime medium £l2 15s to £l4 10s. light to £9 15s; extra prime heifers to £l2 17s 6d, prime £lO 10s to £ll 10s, medium £7 10s to £9 15s, light to £7; extra prime cows to £l2 12s 6d, prime £8 5s to £lO, medium £6 10s to £7 15s, light to £0 ss. Because the yarding of porkers was the smallest of the season values showed an improvement of from 2s to 4s a head. Choppers were in small supply and met the best sale this season. The penning of baconers was also smaller, and the sale of these was the best for a considerable period. Porkers made 34s Cd to 59s 6d, an average price a lb of 6Jd to 7d; and baconers made £2 19s 6d to £5 ss, an average price a lb of 6Jd to 7 ; }d.
