MURCHISON NEWS
BOVS AND GIRLS’ AGRICULTURAL CLUB A meeting last week consisting of representatives of the district farmers’ organisations, school committees and teachers decided to form a Murchison branch of the Boys’ and Girls' Agricultural Club. This movement which is now world-wide, has a large following in New Zealand and last year there were more than 15.000 active members. The aim of such a club is to give children in rural a love for, and an appreciation of the Work carried on around them. Children of standard 3 and upwards are eligible for membership. Two projects will be carried out this year—a calf rearing competition and a root crop competition. Schools will be circularised as to details at an early date. The following officers were elected: President, Mr R. Brown, executive, Messrs Moir. Newman. Tyndale. Lynch, Ford. Thurlow, Manly and Holst (secretary). It was decided to approach the following local farmers to act as supervisors: Messrs Lynch (Six Mile). Newman (Owen). Ford (Murchison), Manly < Matakitaki). Gould (Hinehaka). Thurlow (Longford), Flintoff (Nuggety I Creek). Rouse (Mangles), Ellison j (Tutaki). O’Rouke (Ariki). D. Gordon j (Paenga), and D. James (Howard Juno- i tion).
