FARMERS' PROBLEMS
REDUCED COSTS ONLY SOLUTION
MID-CANTERBURY VIEW I United Press Association! ASHBURTON, 13th June. About 400 farmers attended a meetng called by the Mid-Canterbury provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmer#’ Union to consider farming problems. The Dominion president, Mr \V. W. Mulholland gave an address. The meeting resolved i’That this meeting believes that the only sound policy for improving the lot of the farmer lie* along the line of reduced costa. With that end in view, we are of opinion that the work ot the Royal Commission should be pushed rapidly forward. Should reductions fail to materialise before next export season, we then strongly support the freeing of exchange as a medium of bringing about a more balanced economy.”
An amendment urging that the reference to exchange should be deleted was lost. The motion was carried by a huge majority few not voting.
