DEATHS IN MOTOR SMASH INQUEST OPENED 1 LniteJ I'.e.H lM.w<onl AUCKLAND. 13th June. An inquest was opened to-day by the coroner. Mr F. K. Hunt into the deaths of John Kyle Caldwell and Flora McKenzie Brown, victims of a head-on collision between a motor-van and a motor-car near Waikumcte on Sunday. John Kyle Caldwell, storeman, identified the body of his father, aged 65. « salesman, employed by a c-ity fi;m. j who. while his wife, was on holiday in England had been boarding in Kchimarama His father had been driving , motor vehicles since 1923. he said, and. for about nine days before his death. • had driven the van. He was a cautious ; driver. Matthew Boyd Meikle identified the body of Miss Brown, who he had known for 14 years, he said. She was single. I aged 46. resided in Mt. Albert and , was a bookkeeper.
