A HEAVY FROST IN NELSON

ONE OF TWELVE DEGREES REGISTERED THIS MORNING The heaviest frost for several years in Nelson was registered by the Cawthron Institute this morning, the recording being down to 20 degrees, or a frost of 12 degrese. In the country at Appleby the Government Research Orchard reported a frost of only 1.7 degrees, a strong southwest breeze probably accounting for! this variation. The weather forecast to-day was showery on high levels, with snow, but mainly fair north and west of the ranges; moderate southerly to southeasterly winds, strong in exposed positions. Temperatures very cold, with some hard frosts.
