FRANCO’S MESSAGES AMITY AND SOLIDARITY POSSIBLE PACT WITH ITALY IU.P.A.—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright) BURGOS, 10th June. General Franco has telegraphed to Herr Hitler, Signor Mussolini and Dr Salazar, Premier of Portugal, expressing the friendship and solidarity of the Falangists (Spanish Fascists) with Germany, Italy and Portugal. Senor Suner visited Signor Mussolini in Rome and is understood to have discussed the possibility of an ItaloSpanish military treaty. General Franco is to review all the Spanish forces at Bilbao on 19th June. It is officially announced from Rome that 5699 Italian airmen participated in the Spanish war. They carried out 5318 bombardments. In all 172 Italians were killed and 192 wounded. They lost 86 machines, but claim to have brought down 903 enemy aeroplanes in 266 air fights and to have hit 224 ships.
