A 16-year-old girl, Jean Nicholl, whom critics regard as outstanding, easily defeated Miss Betty Nuthall, 6-2, 6-2, in the final of the St. George’s Hill tennis tournament. Then, partnered by Miss Alice Marble, she won the doubles final, defeating Mrs King and Miss Harvey, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
