BADMINTON TEAM SELECTED

'i lie New Zealand Badminton team to tour Australia, the' first to leave the Dominion, was selected at New Plymouth o:i Saturday after the final of the interproviincial championship between Wellington and Auckland. The eight players selected are:—P Hawkesworth (Wairarapa), E. A. Roussel 1 (Wellington), J. Spedding (Taranaki), 0. A. Pearce (Wellington), Miss N. Fleming (Wellington), Miss M. Kerr (Otago), Mrs Hawkesworth (Wairarapa), Mrs P. Wren (Auckland). The selection is subject to medical examination. Reserves are: R. G. Pattinson (Welling, ton), and Miss I. Greaves (Wanganui). A member of the New Zealand team last year, R. W. Lewis (Auckland), was not available. The team will leave Wellington on 21st July returning on 17th August after touring New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania. One Test will b-i played in Melbourne. The selectors: Messrs D. (). Whyte (Wellington), D. C. James (Auckland), and C. J. Smith (New Plymouth), also announced that the Rev. L. W. Austin (Wanganui) would be manager. Wellington w6n the Wisden Cup for the first time, beating Auckland by 11 mutches to five. Wellington won all eight singles.
