BOMBING OF CHUNGKING

General Chiang Kai-shek ordered the evacuation of the capital all except able-bodied people. Diplomats and foreigners were granted residence permits for six months. Further details of last week's bombing show that the death roll far exceeds 4.000. Hundreds of bodies were discovered in the single exit dugouts. in which they were suffocated or burned. OTHER CITIES SUFFER
The Japanese to-day again bombed Foe chow and Ningpo, hundreds of houses being blown up. In the meantime Chinese guerillas are continuing pressure on Canton, where it is reported they raided an aerodrome and destroyed planes.
